LS swaps can get pretty pricey, but we found an article written by MeanYellowZ on LS1tech, that tells you how to do a LSx swap for cheap. The engines that the author refers to in his article are the 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0 engines because they share the same platform and most parts with the actual 5.7 aluminum LS1 engines. In this budget engine build, we were able to pick up an old 5.3L LS truck engine and with a few parts, we were able to create a 644hp motor. Only at www.carcraft.com, the official website for Car I know the 5.3's are pretty peppy, but is it possible to get 400 to 450hp at the crank from one without power aiders or changing out the heads.
